Game 7 Monday 24
April at Montreal [If Necessary]
Prior
to the Series, I picked Montreal in 5…
This series really feels like a
toss-up at this point. Montreal has a
slight advantage as they have home-ice advantage, and have maintained that advantage
through four games. This is only a
slight advantage, for each of these teams has managed to win a game in front of
the opponent’s home crowd.

Ottawa seems to have some
momentum in this series. I still think
this will be a long series with more shifts in momentum.

Prior
to Series, I picked Washington in 4…
How many hands would be raised
in response to the question “is it possible that the Leafs could ever lead this
series against the Caps?” Outside
Toronto, I dare say there would be no hands in the air. And yet Toronto is now leading this series
after 3 games, with Game 4 also at home.
I for one am in shock! And yet
this proves why the NHL is so exciting.

Prior to
Series, I picked Pittsburgh in 6…
Columbus managed to find a
victory. Despite that, especially as
there were moments when it felt as if the Blue Jackets were trying to give this
game away, I cannot help but think the inevitable has only been delayed. Look for Pittsburgh to come out determined to
end this series on home ice in Game 5.

Game 7 Wednesday 26
April at Chicago [If Necessary]
Prior
to the Series, I picked Chicago in 7…
I’m in complete shock in this
series. The Blackhawks are MIA! Nashville has owned them. The silver lining for Chicago is at least
they managed a goal; twice. But now an
elimination Game looms for Chicago in front of a Nashville fan base who smells
blood, who is convinced this is their year!
I think Chicago is done. It’s
hard to see Nashville letting up on them now.

Game 7 Wednesday 26

Prior
to the Series, I picked Minnesota in 6…
The Wild nightmare continues,
though perhaps not for long. Jake Allen
is playing extraordinary hockey; like he is trying to win the Stanley Cup MVP
award in the first round! The Wild need
to find a way to get this series back home.
If it were not for the Blues’ goalie, I’d say Minnesota will find a way
to take Game 4. I’m not sure I’m ready
to say the Wild have no chance, but they need some help. That help needs to be a lack of support for
Allen by his own team, and perhaps a lucky bounce or two.

Sorry, Calgary, it just isn’t
your time yet. Anaheim knows how to turn
it on this time of year. Unlike other
teams for whom that description has fit [Chicago], Anaheim is actually doing
it!

Game 6 Saturday 22 April at San Jose
Game 7 Monday 24
April at Edmonton [If Necessary]
Prior
to the Series, I picked San Jose in 5…
The Oilers didn’t just get
beat. They were torn apart. Edmonton has announced in the wake of Game 4
that #29 is going to have a conversation with the league. That player may be out for the rest of the series. My judgment is that the spear to the groin
will get him 2 games. I wouldn’t be
upset with 3. The Oilers need to keep
disciplined. They are giving the Sharks
too many Power Plays, and the Sharks are cashing in on these penalties.
