NHL Playoffs
East – Atlantic Bracket
Montreal Canadiens -vs- New York Rangers
Game 1 Wednesday 12 April at Montreal Rangers 2, Canadiens 0
Rangers lead Series 1-0
Game 2 Friday 14 April at Montreal
Prior to the Series, I picked Montreal in 5…
Perhaps I might have taken the Rangers too lightly. New York stole one on the road and thus has canceled out home ice advantage. Montreal absolutely needs to win Game 2. The Rangers would love nothing less than to take this series to Manhattan up 2-nil with the next two games at the legendary Madison Square Garden. If the Rangers take Game 2, perhaps my prediction was right on the games, but wrong on the victor of the series.
Timotheus Picks – 0 points of possible 2 (0%)
2 points for regulation win for predicted series victor; 1 for overtime win…
Boston Bruins -vs- Ottawa Senators
Game 1 Wednesday 12 April at Ottawa Bruins 2, Senators 1
Bruins lead Series 1-0
Game 2 Saturday 15 April at Ottawa
Prior to Series, I picked Ottawa in 7…
Boston managed to find a road win. Game 2 is now a big game for both teams. I still think a long series is likely. It would seem then that somehow Ottawa manages a way to say, “Not in our house!”
Timotheus Picks – 0 points of possible 2 (0%)
2 points for regulation win for predicted series victor; 1 for overtime win…
East – Metropolitan Bracket
Toronto Maple Leafs -vs- Washington Capitals
Game 1 Thursday 13 April at Washington
Game 2 Friday 13 April at Washington
Congrats, Toronto! You made the playoffs. Your prize is you have the opportunity to be smacked down by the Capitals. I foresee a sweep!
Columbus Blue Jackets -vs- Pittsburgh Penguins
Game 1 Wednesday 12 April at Pittsburgh Penguins 3, Blue Jackets 1
Penguins lead Series 1-0
Game 2 Friday 14 April at Pittsburgh
Prior to Series, I picked Pittsburgh in 6…
Pittsburgh defended home ice with strength. Columbus needs to find a way to chip away that the Penguins strength. It wouldn’t be devastating to go to Columbus with the Penguins up 2 games, but it would certainly make the Blue Jackets’ task more challenging. I think this is what happens. I feel really comfortable with my 6 game prediction.
Timotheus Picks – 2 points of possible 2 (100%)
2 points for regulation win for predicted series victor; 1 for overtime win…
West – Central Bracket
Chicago Blackhawks -vs- Nashville Predators
Game 1 Thursday 13 April at Chicago
Game 2 Saturday 15 April at Chicago
Chicago turns it on in the playoffs. Nashville will push them hard. Look for this to go 7 games, with Chicago finding a way to pull it out. This might just be the best series of the first round.
Minnesota Wild -vs- St. Louis Blues
Game 1 Wednesday 12 April at Minnesota Blues 2, Wild 1 [OT]
Blues lead Series 1-0
Game 2 Friday 14 April at Minnesota
Prior to the Series, I picked Minnesota in 6…
The Blues managed to find a road win, but needed overtime to do so. I’d be more impressed if it were in regulation. The Wild should come out for Game 2 with some urgency to balance the series before the series moves. Game 2 will tell us a lot about this series.
Timotheus Picks – 0 points of possible 2 (100%)
2 points for regulation win for predicted series victor; 1 for overtime win…
West – Pacific Bracket
Anaheim Ducks -vs- Calgary Flames
Game 1 Thursday 13 April at Anaheim
Game 2 Saturday 15 April at Anaheim
The Ducks pull this off in 6. Calgary will push them, but their time is not yet upon us. But it is coming!
Edmonton Oilers -vs- San Jose Sharks
Game 1 Wednesday 12 April at Edmonton Sharks 3, Oilers 2 [OT]
Game 2 Friday 14 April at Edmonton
Prior to the Series, I picked San Jose in 5…
San Jose found a win, but needed overtime. Perhaps I took Edmonton too lightly. I still think San Jose finds a way to win the series, but perhaps it will take more than 5 games. Game 2 will tell us a lot.
Timotheus Picks – 1 points of possible 2 (50%)
2 points for regulation win for predicted series victor; 1 for overtime win…
Overall Timotheus Picks – 3 points of possible 10 (30%)
