Home Ice Advantage has been huge in this series. If this trend continues, this series will go 6 games, as I expected. I still feel confident that Ottawa takes this series, and I do think it will go the full seven games.

Was I ever off on this series! I didn’t think the Blue Shirts would find a way to pull it off. Montreal pushed them hard. It was a great series.

Penguins lead Series 3-2
Game 6 Monday 8 May at Pittsburgh …
Game 7 Wednesday 10 May at Washington …
Pittsburgh in 6 Games…
This series has been very good, and very close. Each team has won on the road and at home, so home ice has not meant much. The Caps are presently riding a high as they pulled off an amazing accomplishment in Game 5. Prior to Game 5, in the 39 games, regular season and playoffs combined, in which the Penguins entered the third period with a lead, Pittsburgh won 39 of these games, or 94.9% of the time. The Capitals broke this. The Penguins can still boast of 37 of 40, which is still 92..5%. Washington can’t risk tempting these numbers again. They need to play with the lead. I still see Pittsburgh closing this out in 6 games.
Timotheus Picks – 6 points of possible 10 (60%)
Toronto Maple Leafs -vs- Washington Capitals
Game 1 Thursday 13 April at Washington` Capitals 3, Maple Leafs 2 [OT]

Game 6 Sunday 23 April at Toronto Capitals 2, Maple Leafs 1 [OT]
Prior to Series, I picked Washington in 4…
Toronto should feel good about this series. I picked it correctly, but I thought the Caps would win in much easier fashion. This should be a concern for Washington moving forward.

I picked the series correctly, although I thought it would go a game further. Columbus pressed the Penguins hard, and should use this as a building block to next year.

Predators lead Series 3-2
Game 6 Sunday 7 May at Nashville …
Game 7 Tuesday 9 May at St. Louis …
Nashville in 6 Games…
Nashville looks strong, though the Blues, to their credit, have not laid down and let Nashville run away with the series. Unfortunately for St. Louis, Game 6 is in Nashville. I still think the Predators close out the series in 6 games.

Nashville shocked me, as did Chicago. The Predators are a force to be reckoned with. Right now I would say that they have an advantage in the second round.

Anaheim Ducks -vs- Edmonton Oilers

Game 5 Friday 5 May at Anaheim Ducks 4, Oilers 3 [OT]
Game 6 Sunday 7 May at Edmonton …
Game 7 Wednesday 10 May at Anaheim …
Anaheim in 6 Games…
I think Anaheim took the Oilers lightly. They paid dearly for this mental error. After dropping the first two, the Ducks have won 3 in a row, and clearly have momentum. I hope it continues, and to be quite blunt, I blame the NHL for my own opinion of the Oilers. Had the NHL handed down a suspension, the stick to the groin in Round 1 would be dead news. Instead, my hope is that Edmonton pays dearly by being eliminated in this series. I think it will happen in Game 6.
Timotheus Picks – 6 points of possible 10 (60%)
Anaheim Ducks -vs- Calgary Flames
Game 1 Thursday 13 April at Anaheim Ducks 3, Flames 2
Game 2 Saturday 15 April at Anaheim Ducks 3, Flames 2
Game 3 Monday 17 April at Calgary Ducks 5, Flames 4 [OT]
Game 4 Wednesday 19 April at Calgary Ducks 3, Flames 1
Anaheim wins Series, 4 Games to 0
Prior to the Series, I picked Anaheim in 6…
I didn’t think Anaheim would take this series this quickly. And yet I think Calgary played better than this sweep would show. The Flames are heading in the right direction. It just wasn’t their year to dive deep into the playoffs. But that year is coming. Meanwhile Anaheim needs to focus on the fact that they will need to step up their game against either the Oilers or the Sharks to win this bracket and make it to the Championship Match for the Western Conference.
Timotheus Picks – 7 points of possible 8 (88%)
2 points for regulation win for predicted series victor; 1 for overtime win…
Edmonton Oilers -vs- San Jose Sharks

Game 6 Saturday 22 April at San Jose Oilers 3, Sharks 1
Edmonton wins Series, 4 Games to 2
Prior to the Series, I picked San Jose in 5…
The Oilers found a way to win. It was an impressive series win for them over a good San Jose team. Edmonton could use the momentum from this in the Second Round. They will need it.
